First of all I want to clarify that despite this post title, normally Sydney Harbour Swim Classic has nothing to do with sharks, and luckily also this sunday, 1st March, during the 2009 edition of the swimming competition no one has seen them. However it's undeniable that the great predators were in the mind of many of the thousands of people that partecipated, due to the terrible news that in the last month have seen three different episodes of people attacked by shark directly in Sydney waters and the last one just a day before the swim! Three seriously injured person, luckily no deaths, but indeed the number and the closeness of the attacks have deeply shocked Sydney people.

I have to say, and you can judge by yourself that the photographer Craig Greenhill has perfectly described the scene. With the use of an underwater camera he had taken picture of the competitors and of the security divers patrolling the area from a "shark point of view" that in this case is really on the beam.

Apart from the sharks The Sydney Harbour Swim Classic is described entirely in its name. A swim held every year in the Sydney Harbour. It provides an opportunity for the general public to compete in a community swim event in this fantastic scenario with the famous Sydney Opera House as a background.
