Every year in Engadin, a wonderful region of Switzerland very famous for its pearl St. Moritz, you could see at the end of the winter, a truly impressive "snake" made of thousands of cross-country skiers. It is the "Engadin Ski Marathon" the most important race of this kind.

Three days ago more than 10,000 skiers took part in the 2008 edition
The 42.2km race starts in Maloja and finishes in S-Chanf near the Swiss mountain resort of St. Moritz, featuring some of the country's most amazing scenery.

Norway's Tor Arne Hetland took out the men's race and Germany's Katrin Zeller won the women's event, both setting course records in the process.

These are some Reuters pictures of the event.
