Michael Perham (born 16 March 1992 in Hertfordshire, England) is a boy from Potters Bar who, at the age of 14, became the youngest person to sail the Atlantic Ocean single-handed when he helmed the 29 foot (9 metres) Cheeky Monkey between Gibraltar and Antigua after a 3500-mile voyage. Perham took the Guinness World Record from Seb Clover who crossed when he was 15 in 2003.
But it's not enough for him! Mike is now 16 years old, he can't drive or vote but yesterday set sail from Portsmouth in an attempt to become the youngest person to sail around the world single-handed. A journey of 20000 miles totally alone.

Every year in this period, since at least 1709 (but there are traces back to the 5th century) in the remote Fær Øer islands, the little danish archipelago between Great Britain and Iceland, tou could see the horrible massacre of hundreds of Pilot Whales, a species part of the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae) although their behaviour is closer to that of the larger whales. This is a very uncommon and cruel kinf of fishing because the fishermen don't hunt the whales in the sea, they just wait for them on land and when the whales approach the coasts pushed by the hunger they surround and slaughter them with axes and hooks. The environmentalist association Sea Shepherd have raised the alarm and distributed this shocking pictures.

Ok, I'll help you. He is Spencer Elden and he had become famous when he was just a newborn child for being the protagonist of an album cover that is probably the musical icon of a generation.... Yes he is the floating baby of the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind!
17 years are passed since Spencer Elden's parents were paid just $200 for allowing him to be photographed underwater by photographer Kirk Weddle. It was that photograph was destined to become incredibly famous being used as the cover image for 'Nevermind,' the second album release by Seattle grunge band Nirvana.
Nirvana, formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain, was referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation". After a brief, but whopping success, on April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head at his Seattle home, effectively dissolving Nirvana.
Now a 17 year's old high school student, "water baby" Elden recently re-created the album's cover in the same pool where it was originally shot- the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena, California. With only a difference: he is in shorts this time, thank goodness!.

Ben Ainslie made history once again this evening as the first person ever to have won the Award three times in his career. He also have won 4 olympics medal and a almost endless list of world and european titles.

Everybody in the sailing world knows well that the "Vendèe Globe" is a very very hard adventure but who could imagine that after one day of race almost a third of the boats had to go back to Les Sables d'Olonne with serious damages? The weather has been very bad since the start with winds up to 50 knots.
- Alex Thompson's HUGO BOSS suffered damage to the hull
- Kito de Pavant's GROUPE BEL dismasted
- Yannick Bestaven's AQUARELLE.COM dismasted
- Derek Hatfield's ALGIMOUSS SPIRIT OF CANADA suffered electrical problems
- JeanBaptiste Dejeanty's GROUPE MAISONNEUVE had a deck panel damaged in the bad weather.
- Michel Desjoyeaux's FONCIA had problems with his electrics after a leak in the ballast system, which left Foncia’s engine flooded
- Dominic Wavre's TEMENOS returned soon after the start with electrical problems
- Bernard Stamm's CHEMINEES POUJOULAT has also been forced to turn back after a collision with a fishing boat damaged his bowsprit.

Indonesian Greenpeace activists from the MY Esperanza are protesting against the destruction of Kampar Peninsula's peatland forest by pulp and paper and palm oil industries painting a slogan on the oil tanker Gran Couva in Dumai seaport. Gran Couva is carrying 27,000 metric tonnes of crude palm oil for the Wilmar company in Rotterdam. Greenpeace is protesting against the destruction of Kampar Peninsular's peatland forest by pulp, paper and palm oil industries and calling the Indonesian Government to implement a moratorium on deforestation. Peatland forest is critical for maintaining biodiversity and it's degradation releases vast stores of carbon thereby contributing to global climate change.
