Frozen Soap Bubble

Have you ever thought about freezing soap bubbles? Skipweasel did it and he not only managed to freeze them but also succeeded in taking pictures of these little wonders!
It was about -5°C and very still. He and his brothers had to blow the bubbles with a toy electric bubble blower (using breath made them too warm to freeze before they hit the ground) upwards enough that they have time to freeze on the way down.


The texture of the surface is amazing, like an incredibly fragile arabesque.

The most amazing part is that he actually managed to catch the exact instant when one bubble explode:


A bubble exploding in glass-like fragments.. Weird! isn't it?

It seems more a nightmare than reality but it actualy happened yesterday in Vail, Colorado. A skier a was left dangling upside down and pantsless from a chairlift last Thursday morning. It appears that the chairlift's fold-down seat was somehow not in the lowered position, which caused the man to partially fall through the resulting gap. His right ski got jammed in the ascending chairlift, and that kept him upended since his boot never dislodged from its binding. The exposed skier was stuck for about 15 minutes before Vail personnel backed the lift up and successfully dislodged the unidentified man from the four-seat chair.
Could you really imagine something more embarrassing ?!?

Brothers Gidelvan, 12, and Geovanni, 11, and other childrens of the Hummingbird Center are enjoying their vacations time!

I've stumbled across these pictures via Flickr and I think they just speak for themselves... and they speak about pure joy, and that particular freedom of playing in the mud that have lucky childre.
And those children do are lucky. They are infact guests of the Hummingbird Center of the CARF, the CHILDREN AT RISK FOUNDATION, an organization aimed to defend the rights of the street children of Brazil and offering them a dignified and definitive solution so that they could live and grow within a family-oriented context and healthy social environment.

Sometimes it's for religious ceremonies, other times it's for being part of an healthy club. Sometimes it's to celebrate Christmas and other times for the New Year's Day. Sometimes they're just too drunk and sometimes it's just because it's getting more and more trendy.
Whatever would be the reason people are getting crazy with having freezing baths.

Yet another truly inspired global warming awareness campaign.

This time its the turn of Green Korea, an organization for the protection and conservation of the environment. The idea of human shaped island is brilliant and the realization too, the "Hand" island really resembles those fantastic rocks full of plants you can find in the Phuket area in Thailand. I find the "Face" island somehow less effective, probably because the hand is more recognizable and give a better sense of impending tragedy.



Global Warming is and has been a very hot topic for the creatives around the world.

Ski Jumping is an amazing spectacular soprt you have to see with your own eyes to believe. Televsion footage really fails in giving the idea of what these athletes are able to do (Top jumpers can achieve jumps of about 140 meters).
